@GZbaseball Beats DeMatha in Rare “Away Game” at Nats Academy

With DeMatha’s field soaked with rain on Tuesday, April 25, the call had to be made: The JV game vs the Stags was canceled, while the varsity game was moved to Gonzaga’s home turf at Nats Academy.  So although the game was DeMatha’s “Home Game” between the schools for the 2017 regular season, the Eagles would find themselves in friendly confines — and the team would take advantage.

Coach Bradley’s team wore their traditional home Purple, while DeMatha wore their home Blue. Gonzaga remained in their normal dugout at the Academy, while DeMatha used the same space they were in a few weeks ago when they got the road win versus the Eagles. But one thing was different on Tuesday: as the “Away team” the Eagles went to bat first — and scored 1 in the first and three in the second!  The Eagles got a great complete game performance from ace Will Thomas ’17.
