@GonzagaLacrosse Serves Military, Beats Fordham Prep, and Freshmen Tour Capitol

Easter break was a busy time for Varsity Lacrosse!  The Eagles started the with dominating 19-8 win over DeMatha on April 7.  An although the team fell at national powerhouse McDonogh on April 10, they right back to work to prepare for a showdown on Buchanan Field with fellow a fellow Jesuit school from NY.

But before the big game, Coach O’Neill and the Eagles held there annual annual “Soldier Box Day 2017” where countless letters and hundreds of care packages were prepared and sent to soldiers currently serving over seas.  2017 marks the 10th year for this event.

On April 13, the Eagles held on to grab a big win over Fordham Prep, 9-7.  The game was broadcast live via http://www.LaxSportsNet.com and the Eagles got up big early, leading 5-0 after the 1st quarter and 5-2 at halftime.  With 11 minutes left in the game, Brian Townsend ’17 scored to extend the lead to 9-3.  But Fordham Prep would not give up, scoring the final four goals of the game.

lacrosse2017-freshman tour.jpgOn the same day, the youngest Eagles took a tour of the Capitol – an annual tradition for the Freshman teams in the Gonzaga Lacrosse program.

The varsity Eagles have two games on Buchanan next week:

Tuesday April 18 O’Connell Home 4:00pm
Thursday April 20 Good Counsel Home 4:00pm
