@GonzagaLacrosse Ready to Grind in 2017

{UPDATE on 3/17: RESULT – Eagles beat St. Alban’s 10-4 to improve to 1-0 on the season, game vs O’Connell on 3/16 was postponed due to ice on Buchanan} The varsity Lacrosse Eagles will open their season vs St. Albans on Saturday, March 11 in the 9th annual DC Lacrosse Classic at Wilson HS.  The tournament benefits Winners Lacrosse youth program and Play4TheCure.

After a number of practices, a visit from UVA’s four time National Champion head coach Dom Starsia, and scrimmages both on Buchanan and on the road, the Eagles held their kickoff mass and dinner on Thursday, March 9.  Coach O’Neill and the team is ready to officially begin the 2017 season!

The team is dedicating their season to the father of Brian Crawford ’93(two time WMAC champion goalie for the Eagles and former asst. coach). Donald J. Crawford passed away suddenly this past January. He was a huge fan and an enormous supporter of the Gonzaga Lacrosse program. Throughout the early 1990’s Mr. Crawford kept this program running and strong. He was never seen without his Gonzaga Lacrosse Hat (which he was buried with this past January). His work with the program guided back to back champions in 1992 and 1993.  May he rest in peace as the Eagles honor his memory this season.

After the opener on Saturday, the Eagles have a big week ahead. Here is the scheduled action for the rest of March:
