@Gonzaga_Hockey1 Falls in WCAC Semifinal – Focused on MAPHLs

The V1 Gonzaga Hockey Eagles defeated St. Stephen’s St. Agnes 6-0 on February 10 — Tait, Cardellicchio, Docking, Rosen, Vallese and Jervey found the net in the regular season finale.

On February 15, the Eagles hosted O’Connell in the WCAC Semifinals. Tait started the scoring yet again, but the Eagles would give one back on a breakaway midway through second period.  Docking got one right back for Gonzaga, and going into the final period the score was 2-1 Eagles.

Vallese’s goal made it 3-1, but the Knights answered to make it 3-2 midway through the third period.  Massaro gave Gonzaga a 4-2 lead with 7 minutes left.  The Knights would then close the gap once again with a goal at the 2:45 mark.  And with 1:14 left, O’Connell pulled their goalie leading to a game tying goal with just :42 left.

After 5 minutes of sudden death skating, the game headed to a shootout where the Eagles would fall after 5 rounds.

Although it was a tough loss, the Eagles season is not over.  All eyes are now on the MAPHL playoffs for both the V1 and the V2 Eagles.
