@GonzagaRugby’s B Cima ’14 Selected to Represent USA

Congratulations to Ben Cima ’14 for being selected to represent the United States in the Americas Rugby Championship!  The USA Eagles head coach John Mitchell named his squad on January 24 — “Like last year it’s a broad squad with a number of different players having availability for different matches. In total there are 35 players of which only 26 will be in camp at a time.”  USA will compete in 5 scheduled games, and Ben is slated to compete in all five matches!  Click here to read more on the roster and schedule games >>

The USA Eagles head into camp next week ahead of their match against Uruguay in San Antonio on February 4.

Ben was voted Youth Player of the Year by ThisIsAmericanRugby.com and its followers on January 12. Here is a what the blog had to say about him: “Among the many milestones of growth Cima had this year it was his ability to step up in the big moment that really impressed. With qualification to the JWRT on the line Cima stepped up to kick a massive penalty against Canada last February. Still, it wasn’t just that kick, it was his play throughout the whole match, setting up teammates, making important kicks, and being a leader, that was truly impressive. Cima may not have played in PRO Rugby like our other two candidates but he did lead Rocky Gorge to an amazing season and was justly rewarded with a spot in the Selects side at the APC. Next stop is a permanent place in the Eagles.
