@GonzagaHoops’ Lykes ’17 In The News

When it comes to basketball, usually it’s a benefit to be taller than most of the players on the court.

Not for one Gonzaga College high school player though.

Chris Lykes is taking the WCAC Conference by storm despite being the smallest player in the gym.

Also this week, the Washington Post released the list of local boys and girls players who have been nominated to the 2017 McDonald’s All-American game.

“The Gonzaga boys’ team has three representatives, including All-Met senior guard Chris Lykes, a Miami commit.” Fellow seniors Eddie Scott and Michael Myers are also among the nominees.

Lastly, the Washington Post also released their All-Met basketball midseason report this week. Lykes is only one of four current high school players in the report, with all others playing major roles on their respective collegiate teams as freshmen.  Here is the excerpt on Chris from the article:

G Chris Lykes, Gonzaga (Sr.), Miami (commit)

Lykes is having his way around the region. He’s averaging 19.6 points and 4.3 assists per game for Gonzaga, which is off to a 5-0 start in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference. He’s doing it all with the signature swagger, making eye-dazzling moves in the open floor, hitting three-pointers after sizing up defenders and taking over games.
