@GonzagaSwimDive Experiences New York, Beats Xavier

The Gonzaga Swimming and Diving team traveled to New York City on Friday, January 6. Thanks to Mr. Tom Farley ’93, President of the New York Stock Exchange and 2016 Kohlmann Address speaker, the “Aqua Eagles” were able to get a special tour of the NYSE on the first day of the trip. Day two included a visit to Times Square and a sound defeat of Xavier in the pool. Before heading home, the team went to  Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral (pictured above). By coincidence, baseball great Mike Piazza was in attendance and joined in the photo (right of Cardinal Timothy Dolan).  Here are some photos and posts from @GonzagaSwimDive’s Facebook page:

“The Eagles are in the Big Apple this weekend for a meet against Xavier. But, before hitting the water, they headed to the New York Stock Exchange for a tour and the closing bell ceremony. After dinner, they’ll head to Times Square to see the Blue Man Group. Thanks to Tom Mudlaff for the photos!”

“And the fun continues for the AquaEagles! Thanks to Tom Farley, Gonzaga alum, and current President of the NYSE, the boys were given special access to the trading floor as well as the prestigious NYSE Board Room. After the closing bell ceremony and dinner, they donned their rain ponchos and were treated to the Blue Man Group show where they all emerged with a unique piece of art. Huge thanks to Colleen Mudlaff for putting together such a wonderful itinerary to make this first day especially memorable.”

“A few final photos from the NYC Trip. The first, the boys in Times Square on Saturday morning. The second, the evening meet against Xavier which the Eagles won, and finally a real treat for the boys: Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral with Cardinal Timothy Dolan on Sunday morning. Thanks again to Colleen Mudlaff for her spectacular planning skills and to Tom Mudlaff for sharing his photos. Next meet for the Eagles: Wednesday, January 18th (Senior Day) vs St. Albans at Stone Ridge.”
