@GonzagaTDC Senior Captains, M Johns and Zuccari Make Commitments – N Johns ’15 Finds New Home

“A college football commitment is a ‘two-way’ street for a multitude of reasons. The opportunity to commit is well deserved because it’s been hard-earned. It requires extraordinary devotion for a Gonzaga College High School football player to procure an opportunity to commit to a university. Foremost, the Eagle puts forth an exceptional academic commitment. Secondly, the commitment requires tremendous dedication to athletic preparation and performance. Most importantly, the opportunity to commit reflects how a true man for others has committed to giving the best he has to offer to classmates, teammates, family, and the Gonzaga community in the spirit of God. It is indeed an honor for me as educator, coach, and mentor to have our football culture impacted by such a multi-talented human being. I am immensely proud to witness the growth, development, and ascendance of each young man. Each Eagle has flown high and will undoubtedly fly even higher in his remaining time at Gonzaga as well as in his future beyond his time on Eye Street.” -Coach Trivers

Congratulations to senior captains Mitchell Johns and Joseph Zuccari on making their commitments.  Mitchell will attend the Naval Academy and Joe will attend Butler University.  They both made their announcements on twitter:

Nick Johns ’15, Mitchell’s older brother, also made a commitment this week.

Here is an excerpt from the Washington Post article:

Former Gonzaga quarterback Nick Johns initially went to Virginia before transferring last May after completing spring practice under new Coach Bronco Mendenhall. He spent this past season as the signal caller at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, a junior college in Miami, Okla.

Nick Johns is scheduled to graduate this month and recently landed a scholarship offer from Akron, according to Mitchell. Going through the recruiting process together created a new bond between the brothers.

“He went through it before, but experiencing it at the same time, we kind of understand each other a little more,” Mitchell Johns said.
