October 22, 2016 was a great day for Gonzaga. Although a little windy, all enjoyed a beautiful day on the newly renovated Eye Street Campus. With the Athletic Hall of Fame reception going on in the President’s Suite overlooking Buchanan Field, the day began with a celebration of the Class of 2017 football players and their families:
The Eagles dominated the Falcons in the huge WCAC football matchup, winning 31-7, and the game was the first ever event live streamed by the Washington Post on Facebook. Tony Limarzi ’94 called the play-by-play, here’s a short behind the scenes video of the production:
At halftime six new members of the Gonzaga Athletic Hall of Fame were recognized on the field. This year’s inductees were Rob Belli ’95, Joe Ranalli, Joe Reyda ’85, Danny Sheridan ’02, Mike Sheridan ’05, and the 1992 WMAC Champion Lacrosse Team. The induction ceremony in Sheehy Theater took place after the game and included citations read by AHOF Committee member Brendan Tuohey ’92, congratulatory videos from the inductees’ teammates and fellow coaches, and remarks from the inductees themselves. It was a great celebration for a most deserving group of honorees. Look for a complete video of the ceremony next week.
